Featuring Samantha Rogers from Pete's Poppies

Today we meet Sam Rodgers from Pete's Poppies.....

The reason behind Petes Poppies and how it came alive is back in March 2007 I lost someone very important to me, my dad (hence the name Petes), and this is when I came to realise how much I loved working with flowers and creating, so I enrolled myself onto some flower courses at college and here I am now creating them in the shop. I think that my dad would be very proud.

At Petes Poppies we pride ourselves in customer service and building a great customer relationship. We really enjoy helping people choose suitable flowers for an occasion, by giving them the advice and support they need.

Best sellers.....
Our best sellers would have to be our floral creations, whether it be a simple hand tied bouquet or basket to the more complex funerals and weddings. We also have an extensive gift range in the shop that is not sold anywhere else in Berkhamsted. I would say that our wooden plaques sell like hot cakes!

More Than A Mama fayre.....
You can expect to see some of our floral creations, including some with a Christmas theme, like our rustic Christmas wreaths. We will also have some of our extensive giftware and Christmas range.

You can find Petes Poppies at 102 High St , Berkhamsted, we are located opposite The Gatsby. If you would like directions just give us a call on 01442 864836 and we will only be too happy to help with your needs.

Also on a Saturday we have a stall on the Berkhamsted Market. We are usually situated outside Bel Caffe.

Special events.....
During the month of December we are excited to be offering a couple of open evenings in the shop where people can make their own beautiful Christmas table decoration, the cost of that night will be £25.00 and this will include tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies. Call Petes Poppies on 01442 864836 for booking and further information.

We look forward to seeing Sam and her beautiful stall at the Bumps, Babes & Beyond Fayre THIS FRIDAY 20th Nov! Don't miss it, we are at Berkhamsted Town Hall from 9am til 12.30pm - hope to see you there!

Featuring Marie Jahn from Funtabiedozie Designs.......

Marie, her dog and her daughter all in the felting Studio selecting colours for the next tea cosy!

About Marie Jahn...
I am a mum of 2 girls, now aged 10 and 12. Three summers ago my daughters and I went on a 3 hours felting course, well from that moment on, I became addicted to felt, I just loved working with all the lovely bright coloured wools! At the time I was working part time for a local Wine Imorters, I would leave work at 3:15 pick the children up and try to be the pefect mum, and then when both girls were in bed out would come all the felting wool and creations would be made normally into the wee early hours! A year ago now I was made redundant (big smile on my face!), with my redundancy package I brought a Studio (which my husband built in our garden) and a Labradoodle Pup, so now when the girls are at School I spend my day felting in the Studio and walking the dog (of course not at the same time!).
The wonderful bright colours of felting wool that are available, lliterally every colour of the rainbow, inspire me to create lovely bright coloured gifts such at tea/cafetiere cosies, corsages, felted sweets, bags, purses......., I like to think my felted creations are happy, bright and fun!
Best Sellers...
My best sellers have to be my brightly coloured tea and cafetiere cosies, every good tea pot & cafetiere plunger should not be without one!, I like to think they bright up a kitchen!
More Than A Mama fayre....
This Christmas I have felted out of the brightest 100% Merino Wools:
- a range of tea and coffee cosies
- felted soaps (a perfect teacher Christmas pressie!),
- freshly laid egg cosies!
- felted sweeties for the Xmas Tree
- glass cases
- mobile phone cases
- Corsages
- Sweetie bracelets
- Clutch bags/Purses
- Lavender filled love hearts
My website is: I must apologise in that this website is at a stage of infancy at the moment BUT there is a gallery book on it where you can see a lot of my felted designs (I am sorry about the music!).
Come and see Marie Jahn's wonderful wares at a More Than A Mama Fayre coming very soon!!! Next one is THIS FRIDAY (20th Nov) at Berkhamsted Town Hall, from 9am till 12.30pm.

Featuring Katy Day from Happy Day Designs.....

About Katy Day........

'Happy Day Designs' began in August 2005 after the gift of a basic jewellery kit and glass beads from her husband, Katy started a passion for designing and making a wide range of jewellery. She studied for a Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art & Design back in her youth and then completed a Teaching Degree, specialising in Art and English. Katy taught for 8 years before leaving to have children and now works from home so she can spend as much time with them as possible.

Based on the borders of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Katy sells the majority of her work through jewellery parties in the area but can also be found at craft shows and Indulgence evenings in the local area.

Katy says, "I have always loved costume jewellery...the colours, the designs, the sparkle! My inspiration comes from a wide range of things- colour, what's in the shops, the countryside (I have a recent range which includes butterfly prints) and often I order beads that fascinate me and the inspiration for a piece comes from that!".

Best sellers...

"My lariats, as they can be worn two different ways and are colourful, and my daisy necklaces, either on cord or incorporated into something more dressy."

More than a mama...

"I will have my full range of jewellery at the fayres, plus some 'one off' designs, some sale items and cards (including packs of handmade Christmas cards at £4.50 for 8)".

My website...

"You can find a selection of my jewellery at to buy, and every piece comes gift wrapped in hand printed tissue paper. In the Spring, the website will have a regular turnover of new items so keep an eye on it to grab a bargain or a really special piece!".

Thank you Katy, we look forward to seeing you at the More Than A Mama forthcoming fayres.

More Artist features on the way....
